About Us
US Hazmat is a Boone-based company behind a family of engineered building brands, including hazardous materials storage buildings, FEMA-compliant storm shelters, and steel buildings. We manufacture in Wilkesboro and ship to customers nationwide, from schools and municipalities to manufacturers and government agencies. Our accounting team keeps that operation running, and we're looking for a dependable, detail-driven person to join it.
What You'll Do
- Process vendor invoices from receipt through payment, including coding, approvals, and scheduled payment runs.
- Run payroll accurately and on time, including timekeeping review, deductions, and payroll tax support.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready records in Sage, QuickBooks, or our other accounting systems.
- Follow established processes consistently and flag anything that doesn't look right.
- Support the accounting team with month-end tasks and special projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
- An associate's degree with 3–5 years of accounting experience, or a 4-year degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field.
- Hands-on accounts payable and payroll experience.
- Working knowledge of Sage, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
- Strong organization and attention to detail. Accuracy matters here.
- Comfort following defined procedures and meeting firm deadlines.
- Solid Excel skills and clear communication with vendors and coworkers.

Position Requirements
This is a fully in-office position at our Boone, NC office. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Candidates must live within commuting distance of Boone and be authorized to work in the United States.
